Not entirely sure why these are labeled for a woman versus a man, I suspect it's a sizing issue. My wrestler is currently in junior high, wrestling at the 134 weight class and it fits him just fine. He loves cliff keen items (uses the tornado headgear, for instance) and found this bubble knee pad to be exceptionally comfortable and protective of his knee. However, it does slide down more than the mizuno volleyball kneepads he was previously using. My other criticism of the item is a criticism of knee pads marketed for wrestlers in general is that there's just ONE kneepad. And yet they are priced equivalently to kneepads marketed for other sports that include a set of 2. Not all wrestlers shoot with just one leg. Some of them shoot with both. Some of them want to protect both knees even if you have a stronger leg. Some wrestlers don't want to signal to their opponents which leg they're going to shoot with.As it is, my wrestler is using this Cliff Keen knee pad on one leg and the mizuno on the other leg -- he says it makes him look like Marcus Blaze.EDIT after 1.5 months heavy use:I've updated with pictures, you can see that there is fraying in the fabric around the turtle shell pad, especially the side that gets the most friction during shots. But the shell itself is still intact and firmly attached to the leg sleeve. We've machine washed this frequently and it's still very padded, sturdy, and elastic still stays up well.

This wrestling knee pad offers comfort and protection. It slips on easily and stays in place with its elastic wide band. To use, you simply slip the knee pad over your foot and up over your knee. My daughter wrestles for school and likes this knee pad more than the school issued one.
